I am proud to be certified as an AKC Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) Evaluator. Not only does CGC training create long-lasting trust between you and your dog, but also ensures you’ll be good neighbors and friends to everyone around you.

“The American Kennel Club (AKC) has 3 levels of Canine Good Citizen certification for dogs of ALL breeds, ALL mixes, ALL sizes, and ANY age which, upon completion, demonstrate your dog has the correct temperament and training to be a safe member of your community.”

“Besides ensuring your dog is relaxed, safe and under control in public venues, these certificates can be very helpful when:”

• applying for a property, rental, homeowners or canine health insurance

• using your dog as an emotional support animal or service dog

• earning AKC Trick Dog Titles

• traveling with your dog and seeking accommodations

• using your dog as a Therapy Animal

 

With the CGC package, you will go beyond the basics.  Your dog will master 10 basic skills that instill confidence and good manners in and out of your home. Once mastered, these 10 skills will be tested, and when passed, you will receive a CGC certificate proving that your dog is a ‘Good Citizen.’

​​Still not sure where to start?  Book a consultation to discuss the Canine Good Citizen training and examination in detail.  The consultation occurs in your home or virtually where I can observe behaviors, environment, and motivations. We will discuss your pet’s challenges as well as the specific goals to get you and your dog prepared to pass the CGC certifying test.  I will give you a foundational exercise to start your training but no other training will occur at this visit. After our consultation, I will better be able to put a plan together to help you train and prepare for the CGC test.  At the consultation, we will also discuss the next steps and the most appropriate package for you and your pet's needs. 

 

The package you choose depends on the skills and knowledge that your dog already has prior to our training together.  If you think your dog is ready to take the CGC test, book a consultation to determine your dog’s readiness and preparation details for the test.
